Unprecedented patterns continue to impress in the Watauga County housing market.
The other day there was a lively conversation in my office about experiences we’ve had on the job. I was sharing some of the stories with a client and she told me a story she had experienced decades ago while she and her husband were viewing property with a realtor.
Several days ago, work took me down a road that very much reminded me of my childhood home’s
country road. I passed a farmhouse with children in the yard, and they stopped their play to watch me
as I passed. I felt their curious stares until I was back behind the trees. Immediately I was taken back in
time.
People are often surprised to learn that the process of purchasing land is more complicated than purchasing a house. They’re also surprised to learn that one can spend a significant amount of money during the due diligence/inspection period on a land purchase. But both statements are true.
Shortly after moving here, I learned how Valle Crucis got its name. Since we will soon enjoy Easter, I’d like to share that story, as you’ll easily see the connection.
Some people, when new to our community, are puzzled by the way we do trash. I sure was.
Remember back in the olden days, say pre-coronavirus, when realtors drove their clients around? Who imagined that there’d come a time when that would be a nostalgic memory? I miss it. I’ve had many great conversations with clients in my car.
So, what happens during the due diligence period? A lot.
What determines a good location differs from client to client.
